pneumatic cylinders (sometimes known as air cylinder) is mechanical devices which produce force, often in combination with movement, and are powered by compressed gas (typically air). Pneumatic Cylinder is devised to convert compressed air power into mechanical energy. This mechanical energy then generates linear or rotary motion. So in this way the air cylinder functions as the actuator in the pneumatic system. Generally Pneumatic Cylinder are made of a steel piston, a piston rod, a cylinder barrel and end covers. As compressed air moves into a pneumatic cylinder, it pushes the piston along the length of the cylinder. Compressed air or a spring, located at the rod end of the cylinder, pushes the piston back. Valves regulate the flow of compressed air to the cylinders. Pneumatic Cylinders have features that make it unique to use. Some of its features that really benefit are the speed with which it reacts swiftly. Pneumatic cylinders simple mechanism makes its usage very easy. To perform their function, pneumatic cylinders impart a force by converting the potential energy of compressed gas into kinetic energy. This is achieved by the compressed gas being able to expand, without external energy input, which itself occurs due to the pressure gradient established by the compressed gas being at a greater pressure than the atmospheric pressure. This air expansion forces a piston to move in the desired direction.
